Friday, Sept 11, I woke up rested after arriving around 8pm and checked out the neighborhood of my hotel Weisse Taube, perfect location in old town.

The main shopping street, Getreidegasse, has some wonderful stores, with some great Dirdnl, the traditional Austrian dress..they are so colorful...

The Dom, cathedral of St Rupert & St Virgil, originally built in 774..no, I didn't forget to put the 1 in front of 774...that's one of the things I love about Europe, the history!

On the Sound of Music Tour, I was glad I brought my umbrella. When we arrived at the first stop, the house used in the movie for the back side, where Maria and the kids fall from the canoe in the water, it was pouring!!

The other house that was used for the front of the house, this is the lane that Julie Andrews sings, "I have confidence". If you watch the movie you will definitely recognize this lane.

The house is now a music school, how appropriate. The area was quiet and really peaceful, which I could have spent a much longer time just enjoying the area.

Up in the hills, which I think were 'alive', the meadow below is where they filmed the picnic scene in the Do Re Mi singing montage.

We stopped at a restaurant and had apple strudel while overlooking the area. Whether or not, you're a fan of the movie, the scenery during the tour is worth it on its own.

This is the church that they filmed the wedding scene in. Very beautiful church and the village that it's in, Mondsee, is very picturesque. Another place I'd like to return to and spend extra time.

Saturday, Sept 12, I set out to walk to the fortress on top of the hill, but took the wrong street, but as it often happens when you get lost walking around a city, this was a happy accident, I ended up at the Noonberg Abbey, yep, the Abbey where Maria Van Trapp was at.

Now that I was fortified with plenty of sugar, I went to the Mirabell Gardens. Not only is it a place to visit when in Salzburg, but yes..this is another place where the Do Re Mi song montage was filmed.
